Board Goals
2022-23 Decatur ISD Board and District Goals
The Decatur Independent School District’s Board of Trustees and Superintendent cooperatively engage in annual goal-setting based on what we as a district want to accomplish in the next school year. The following represent DISD’s goals for 2022-23:
A commitment to equipping every young learner with the ability to read at or above grade level by 3rd grade
Evaluation of early literacy programs in both English and Spanish
Expansion of Pre-K programs to increase kindergarten readiness
Emphasis on literacy across all content areas
Creation of an academic interventionist position
Expansion of bilingual/ESL support and training
A specific and individualized experience for every high school senior that gets them on the path to college, career, or military readiness by the time they graduate
Expanded dual credit and CTE offerings
Partnerships with colleges and universities to bring more affordable options to Decatur ISD students
Collection of baseline data on industry certifications earned by students Increase in number of students testing and average performance on both the SAT and ACT college entrance exams
Continued fiscal responsibility and resource management
Staffing and scheduling analysis for efficiency at all campuses
Departmental budget review
Engagement with every stakeholder in establishing Decatur ISD as a destination district for staff, students, and families
Re-establishment of District vision, mission and goals
Development of a transparent, community-based strategic plan
