Decatur ISD’s most recent Student Holiday provided unique opportunities for professional development across DISD.
At DHS, teachers worked with Tara Bennet, instructional systems coordinator, and the district’s Teaching and Learning team on building assessments. Campus paraprofessionals and instructional aides from Rann and MMS also met with Bennett and technology staff to learn about new softwares.
At the DISD Administration Building, multiple campus leaders, including principals, assistant principals, instructional coaches, and teacher leaders, joined Assistant Superintendent Michelle Wooten for a full day of Lead4Ward workshops.
Among the topics, staff leaders learned strategies to support student’s individual learning needs, tools for academic intervention, and ways to prioritize high impact curriculum standards in instruction in line with HB1416.
Additionally at the admin building, the district’s substitute teachers gathered with Stephanie Weitner from Human Resources for an important safety training with Riley Metzler.
